My husband and I entered the prospect of home building with a lot of trepidation. As a real estate and construction attorney, along with having lots of friends and family who have built their homes, I'd heard a lot of problems and complaints on the mild end, and lawsuits on the extreme end. Why build then? Because we wanted a house that was made for our family's needs: 2 full time working parents who both work at home quite a bit, 2 young kids with friends coming over regularly, and a dog. None of the scary stories proved to be true for our custom home building process. We started with an architect/designer team who worked so well with Loyd Russel. Throughout the process (starting with plans and budget and now with the odds and ends), Loyd Russel was by our side, answering innumerable questions, and building a quality home within the projected schedule. Our home was designed from scratch, room by room and window by window, and Loyd Russel took those plans and brought our dream to life. Of course there were hiccups along the way, there always will be. But instead of bringing my husband and I into each and every problem, it was handled behind the scenes, with a lot of input from all parties who could provide help, and then clear options were offered to us for final resolution. I rarely recommend professionals to others, but here I make an exception and strongly recommend Loyd Russel.

On April 1, 2019, we moved into our first newly constructed home. Working with Loyd Russel Homes was the best decision we could have made. While looking into different homebuilders, I heard numerous horror stories about friends that built new homes and had terrible experiences with their home builders. I also spoke with several people who recommended their home builders but had several reservations, including but not limited to communication problems, and/or major setbacks along the way. However, everyone I spoke with who had used Loyd Russel, had an overwhelmingly positive experience. Ultimately, we chose them and couldn’t be any happier. Our home is EXACTLY what we had hoped for, and even after moving in, Steve and Russel are always immediately available. The entire process was overwhelming for me personally, but Steve was literally at our home every single day, paying close attention to every detail, supervising each subcontractor, and job, making sure everything was done appropriately, and communicating with us throughout the way. I cannot accurately express the amount of gratitude I have for both Steve and Russel and for the amount of time, effort, and pride they put into making our home so great. Would highly recommend Loyd Russel Homes to anyone looking to construct their new home. If we were to ever build another home again (which we won’t because we love this one so much), we would not even consider another company other than Loyd Russel Homes.

After letting the dust settle post moving into our custom home, we wanted to take the opportunity to express our gratitude to our team at Loyd Russel Homes. Initially, we found committing to a builder for our home confusing until someone advised us to choose a team that just felt right after the initial meeting. Once we met with Russel Garrison and Steve Rudin, we knew they were the correct choice and they did not disappoint. Russel was very prompt when it came in getting bids, sending updated specifications and willing to meet anywhere that was needed. Steve’s construction knowledge and ability to lead his construction team was impeccable. He was on the site daily and was able to directly attend to anything necessary. We enjoyed our weekly (and sometimes daily) updates and Steve was always available to answer questions or address issues. We spent so much time with our team they almost began to feel like family! That is what makes Loyd Russel so special, they treat you like family. Many of our friends who have built are amazed at how much we rave about our experience, but it really was a pleasure. We are also so thankful that Russel and Steve were able to keep to the timeline they proposed, promising us we would move in a year and getting us into our home 361 days after we broke ground. And, all while working with us to stay inside our budget. We cannot recommend Loyd Russel homes more highly, and we are proud that our “forever” home will always be linked to Russel and Steve. We hope that our relationship doesn’t end with the key transfer, and we look forward to being a supporter of Loyd Russel homes moving forward.

We never planned to build a new home, but in August 2017, our house flooded during Hurricane Harvey, and like so many other Houstonians, we were forced to move out and make some hard decisions. Once we decided to rebuild on our lot, our first, and best, decision was to choose Loyd Russel Homes as our builder. We have never had any reason to regret that decision. Working with Steve and Russel has been an absolute pleasure. They guided us through the process, from budget to design to finishing, and while the number of decisions could be overwhelming, they helped us to prioritize what we needed to do and when. Their subcontractors are all first class and whenever there was an issue (and there weren’t many), they made sure it was corrected immediately. There was never a day that Steve wasn’t at the house to make sure things were being done correctly. We feel very fortunate to have worked with them and would strongly recommend them to anyone interested in building a new home. We love our house and appreciate the honesty and integrity of Loyd Russel Homes.
